Teaser Post

This week I got to witness--
1. a child get stitches in her forehead. (Amelie)
2. a child potty train herself. (Violet)
3. a child turn 9 months old--today! (Linus)

Since Scramble is loosing it's appeal (well, sort of), I promise to be back to posting regularly very soon. It's not for lack of material anymore, that's for sure!

Cheers!

I know, I know

Since the power came back last Monday night (and Duncan plugged in the computer properly on Tuesday evening), I've failed to update for a number of reasons...
-Linus and I went up to New York and back, with my parents, to bury my grandparents.
-I discovered Scramble on Facebook.
-I haven't taken many pictures.
-I've been uninspired.
-I've been busy.
But I hope to be back, soon. I've obtained the prizes (or their ingredients) from the 200th Post Extravaganza and hope to send them out by this weekend. I'm working on the final installment of Linus' birth story. Good thing we all know about the happy ending! Keep checking back. I'm sure to get into gear soon!

Paralysis: edited

10:30 pm Sunday night.
Power out.
9:30 pm Monday night.
Power restored.
Computer?
Broken.
What did I ever do before the internet?

We're up and running.
Those pesky cords need to be plugged in, for the computer to work, huh? You'd think being married to a computer nerd for nearly 8 years would have learned me something by now! Guess not.

Calling All Lost Watchers!!

O.K. So we're wondering if we missed an episode or something. How did Michael get locked up and when did Desmond and Sayeed become buddies with the captain?

Mother's Day Craftiness

I'm a big fan of homemade gifts and cards, especially when kids are involved. I had an inspiration that I acted on this morning, so I thought I'd share it.

supplies:
heavy stock paper
ruler
kid-safe ink pad
scissors
envelopes
baby wipes
markers

*I measured and scored the paper, lengthwise, so that when folded it would fit in the envelopes I had.
*I then folded the paper on the scoreline, back and forth, so I could rip it and leave a decorative jagged edge.
*Then I measured, scored and folded the paper, so that I had three equalish sections. (Obviously you could do as few or many sections as you wanted to do.)
*Then I covered each child's hand with ink and pressed it on the paper. (The girls were watching tv while I did it, which made it quite easy to gain their cooperation. Linus on the other hand...)
* I reapplied ink after each paper (we made three for our three grandmas)
* I washed off their hands, on the spot, with a baby wipe or two.
*I wrote their name and age by their hand print.

*On the back, behind where their hand print is, I wrote what they told me when I asked them, "What do you love most about...?"

*Here's a sampling of their answers. Some cute. Some sweet. Some silly.

*But I'm thinking that the grandmas will like them all the same.

A New Meaning of the Phrase Medicine Head

Violet has a rash. It's on her scalp, just above the nape of her neck. I finally took her to the doctor yesterday. I found out it's just very dry skin that she's scratched to the point of breaking the skin, which has, in turn, gotten a little infected. She was prescribed an anitbiotic and a steroid: both topical. Putting such creams on someone's scalp makes that person's hair, well, how should I say this?
Nappy.
I'm not sure when I last used that word in plain conversation, but it describes her hair perfectly.
So the dilemma. How to style this hair of a new texture?
Viola!
Two messy buns: a top one and a bottom one. Super cute. So cute, I may in fact do this "do" even when we don't have medicine head!

These are just some gratuitous Violet-eating-strawberries pictures. Violet, aka Laura (as in Ingalls Wilder), aka Baby Tiger, aka Alice (as in Angelina Ballerina's BF), could not be much cuter.

*sigh* Oh dear girl, if you only knew how you melted my heart!

Have a great weekend!
